Hopi Ear Candling
Ear candling, a tradition of using a hollow candle/cone in the ear with heat has been used for thousands of years by many civilizations like Ancient Greeks, Egyptians, Shaman Healers, and Native American Indians. Hopi Candles derive from the Hopi Indians of the Shoshonean Indian Division. A Native American Indian tribe that is known for their peaceful lifestyle & deeply respected for their knowledge & experience in healing & spirituality. To this day the candles we use are still made to the original recipe used by the Hopi Tribe.

As a treatment, this is a beautifully relaxing & calming experience. Hopi Ear Candling is a non-invasive, holistic way to eliminate excessive ear wax. The heat from the candle softens the wax in the middle ear, from there, the wax moves naturally down the eustachian tube and is eliminated by the body. This treatment may be able to reduce hearing impairment caused by wax congestion in the middle ear, relieve sinus pain and headaches. A course of two to four may be recommended to achieve lasting results for chronic complaints.

Hopi Candle treatment
The Client is positioned lying on their side, a candle is lit & placed in the ear. It is held for the duration, usually 10-15 minutes, then gently removed and extinguished. The same ear is massaged then the process is repeated on the other ear. Once both ears are treated the client lies on their back and receives a facial massage with lymphatic drainage and pressure points.
At the end of the treatment the candle is unraveled and whatever ingredients from the candle are left in the candle are examined. There can be either beeswax, powder, or both. These are not deposits from the ears of the client, that is a myth. The theory is that looking at what’s left behind can determine how congested or not the ears were based on how much of the candle’s ingredients were burned away.
For example:
If a lot is left behind & if the burn time of the candle was long= the candle’s energy was spent heating the ear and helping to decongest the ears.
If there is a small amount left & the burn time of the candle was short = the ear is thought to be healthy.
